History
of CMTI
Founded
in 1923, CMTI greeted the world as The Ohio AdCalendar Co.
The brainchild of a Hungarian immigrant, the first two decades
saw the business struggling to find a niche in the commercial calendar
industry. Located in
Cleveland, Ohio, the then-Mecca of the creative printing industry, Ohio
Ad as it was known, sold its products in the Midwest through
manufacturers reps who called on small businesses and retailers.
During the 40’s Ohio Ad expanded its product
base and started to sell advertising specialties as well as calendars.
The next 30 years was a period of consistent growth that
outpaced the economy and seemed unfazed by the war years and post war
economic crises.
A
new dynamic stage of development the late 70’s when Ohio Ad
had already moved its headquarters east and changed its name to Marketing
Techniques, Inc. It
was during this period that the company became a Woman Business
Enterprise (WBE). The
doorway to the future opened wide.
New dimensions of the Promotional Products Industry were added
to its market basket. Creative
development of Promotional Products Brochures, fulfillment services,
customer service and comprehensive reporting functions added a
completeness to the structure of the company.
Integrated systems for stocking, packaging, shipping and
tracking of promotional products served as the foundation for the
significant growth that was to mark the 80’s and the 90’s.
CMTI
is recognized as one of the most innovative companies in its business.
It is also a member of the Multi-million Dollar Round Table
making it a member of the elite 5%.
As an industry leader, with membership in the major trade
associations and holder of almost every major franchise, CMTI offers
one of the most complete assortments of products available.
